  10. I've tried two identical Practical Peripherals 14400FXSA internal modems in an 
  11. old '386 on COM3, IRQ4, where I run about a dozen of the same modems without 
  12. problems.  My next best guess is that I should upgrade the controller card 
  13. set, which I will get to in a couple of days.  In the meantime, is there 
  14. something else I'm overlooking?  I've already made sure the mouse, which is 
  15. the only other serial device, is on COM2 and IRQ3.  What next?
  16.
